The young state alchemist roamed the streets rather freely, drifting without a purpose, without any idea of what he was to make of his day off. The obvious idea would be to go to the barracks and go take a nap or something along those lines. Then again, he didn't really like sleeping in places like that unless he absolutely had to. Had it already been two years since first becoming a State Alchemist? Dmitri pondered at the idea, looking up at the sky as he thought of the idea. Because it was almost about time for the anniversary of his becoming a State Alchemist, it would soon be time for his recertification test, a rather large nuisance. He already had a pass for the first one, but this time there would certainly be no getting out of it. Even for his high rank he still had to follow protocol to the tee, no exceptions. Then again, he was a loyal soldier, with a prevalent sense of duty and justice, following the rules must be done unless some outstanding circumstances occur where he'd have to do what was best based on his own judgment.
His gun always aimed true, always hit its mark, no matter what kind of target the barrel was pointed at. The boy's pocket watch dangled from one of his belt loops, secured tightly to it. Apparently it wasn't just to show that he was a State Alchemist, but it also amplified his alchemy or that's what has been said of it. Simple trinkets and the titles that came with them meant absolutely nothing to him, not to someone who no longer cared about much except for continuing to do their duty without anything in return. Every breath that was taken, every step forward and every nerve in his body was all put forth toward making sure that the world was a safe place. Not the entire world, just his world, his country and his family. He'd kill anyone in cold blood to see this "world" of his prosper forever, though he knew that one day he might just have to draw the line.
Now, where was his resting place for the moment? A park bench would suffice, so he thought as he sat down, sighing deeply as if he were troubled by something. Troubled wasn't exactly the word for it, but he was a bit on edge about how the events of the world kept unfolding. "How many more must be sacrificed....?" He wondered if he could ever become half as good an alchemist as that boy genius, Edward Elric. Being compared to him constantly was a bit annoying, especially since he never seemed to stack up to him. The only thing the two had in common was the fact that they were both young, there was nothing else they shared.

"There it is, central city." Yukio exclaimed from the top of a hill a distance away. It had took him a week to get to central city, not because it was far from his original destination, but because he had such a poor sense of direction. But like any boy, Yukio refused to ask for directions until he found himself hopelessly lost and hungry from his long travels. It was good luck that a young female merchant was headed towards central city and she offered to take him there. Yukio now turned away from the scenary and looked at the female merchant. Her hair was long and golden blond, her skin was slightly tanned from her travels and her eyes were like that of a sparkling sapphire. "Thank you miss, if it weren't for you, I had probably still be lost right now." Yukio said smiling at her. The female merchant smiled at him and told him to ask for directions next time, her voice was so gentle and sweet that Yukio was able to tell her sincere care for him. "Alright." He smiled at her rubbing his head with his right hand.
The two continued their journey and parted at the bottom of the hill. Yukio gave her a few medicine herbs to show his gratitude for her kindness and she gave him a kiss, which upon recieving it, he blushed. "hahaha, you're as red as an apple." The female merchant smiled and placed her hand on his shoulder, "the name is Julia by the way. If you ever need travel goods I will be in central for a week or two." Having said that, Julia lifted her cart and pulled it as she made her way to central city. Yukio waved good bye to her and yelled his name. "Now what do I do?" Yukio looked at the buildings that surrounded the city and the crowds of people. "I wonder where I can find a state alchemist?" The boy wondered as he walked through the city gates and into the city.
Central city was a pleasant city, its residence were all joyful people, wearing smiles on their faces as they carried out whatever chores or work required of them. Even an automail mechanic and her customer were laughing and chatting inspite of the pain which the customer seemed oblivious to. Eventually, the young alchemist reached the park and saw what or who he was looking for. On the park bench sat a young male state alchemist, Yukio was able to tell from the pocket watch hanging out of the boy's pocket. He knew that all state alchemists recieved it as a proof of their qualification. Slowly Yukio approached the male and greeted him. "Hi, my name is Yukio Mizuki, I am searching for a state alchemist whom can teach me this country's alchemy." Yukio titled his head and smiled.

"Hm?" Dmitri simply looked over at the voice that called to him, taking notice of the person of whom the voice belonged to. A boy around his age, blond hair and blue eyes, though rather meek looking in comparison. If anything, this kid looked like a weakling on top of the fact that he was his current annoyance. Why would anyone in the world ask such a silly question as that? Maybe this kid did not exactly understand the importance and the duties of a state alchemist. A State Alchemist was an alchemist who displays the ability and knowledge to put their alchemy to practical use for the direct combat situations or for research to be used to further better the military. In other words, a State Alchemist was either a weapon used for combat or a researcher that would create weapons to be used for war. Needless to say that the State wouldn't take too kindly of the fact of a State Alchemist teaching a no-named kid about that particular alchemist's special skills.
"A State Alchemist to help teach you?" The brown haired boy scoffed at the younger blond, not knowing what else to say. It was hard to fathom what exactly was going on, it just sounded to silly to even think about. "A State Alchemist's job is to either use alchemy on the battlefield or research ways to apply alchemy for the advancement of warfare technology. They aren't teachers for those don't know anything about alchemy. You'll never learn anything if you're trying to mooch information and theories off of other people." Dmitri's gaze peered deep within the blond's, trying to see everything what this kid was worth. Basics had to be learned from someone, but beyond that everything else had to trial and error, otherwise the budding alchemist would never learn.

The state alchemist's reply to Yukio was not at all what he expected. The boy seemed to think he was a superior alchemist in both knowledge and skill. But the thing that irritated Yukio the most was that the young alchemist felt that alchemy was a weapon of war rather than a medicine tool to save people. Yukio had an urge to punch the young alchemist but he knew that he would be arrested for assulting an officer. So instead he decided to speak his mind, "Alchemy is not a weapon! It is made to save people! If you are going to create more wars using alchemy than you might as well give it up! Its an art meant to save not destroy!" Yukio didn't notice he was yelling at the young alchemist. He probably didn't care, he had to speak his mind. Alchemy was meant to save people not destroy them. Yukio looked into the state alchemist's eyes. They seemed to tell Yukio that he(Dmitri) was not impressed and that Yukio would have to prove his worthiness.
"Alchemy is meant to give life!" Yukio dropped a plant seed on to the grass floor and then placed his gloved hand on it. A greenish light glowed from his palm and a small tree began to grow out of the grass at amazing speed, its branches extended just far enough to touch the state alchemist's forehead. "I came to amestris not to fight anyone. Only to learn your form of alchemy which is different from my country's alchemy. I know amestrian alchemy has medical potential, I need to learn the basics, that's why I am here!" Yukio stared straight into Dmitri's eyes with what most people would describe as child-like anger. As he expected some sort of response from him.

Dmitri simply sat there while the kid did his little plant alchemy, a simple feat if that was your specialty or something along those lines. Either way, the State Alchemist was not amused, not even close. Getting a reaction out of the stone cold teenager known as the Bullet-Hell Alchemist would be nearly impossible, if not completely impossible altogether. There was nothing in this physical world in which they dwell that could ever make him waiver, not even in the face of such ignorance and childish displays, that was hardly something that could even get a rise out of him. The thing he wanted to do was disregard the little blond guy, but it seemed as though he wouldn't go away until he responded to his silly statement. Though there was something that Yukio failed to realize, the fact that Dmitri never said that alchemy was for just killing or war, he only spoke of what a State Alchemist's job was and nothing more. The fact that he jumped to such silly conclusions was enough to prove how bratty this guy was.
"I never said alchemy wasn't for saving people. And I never said that alchemy was just for killing either. I only told you what a State Alchemist's job exactly was and that is all. Alchemy is whatever someone decides to make of it. Whether it is used to save or to take away. At the end of the day, equivalent exchange will make sure that everything will be balanced out. For every life that is taken, another life is created. And for every life that is saved, a life is extinguished. Isn't that what alchemy is about, balance? It doesn't really matter what you do with alchemy, it will always have an adverse effect in order to balance things out."
He quickly grabbed for his revolver and pointed the heavy gun directly at the blond, no emotion in his eyes. "I take your life, another life is created. Perpetual balance in the world. Otherwise, or silly law of equivalent exchange means nothing. Would you like to see?"

Yukio stood there as the state alchemist explained what he felt alchemy was about. And how he felt that to save a life you needed to extinguish another. Which was more or less true, but Yukio felt that sometimes miracles could happen where you can save a life without giving up another. However, some of the things Dmitri said did make sense. Yukio had responded on quick assumption rather than take the time to question Dmitri on what he felt alchemy was for as an individual rather than as a state alchemist. "I admit to that mistake of my own ignorance. After all I am but a child." But before Yukio could think of what to say next. The state alchemist had lifted taken a gun out of his pocket and pointed it directly at Yukio. "And here I was thinking you were the peaceful kind." Yukio smirked and placed his hands in his pockets. "I am guessing that you expect me to surrender?" He took out a set of six small throwing knives and leaped backwards. "Try this on for size!" Yukio threw the knives around the state alchemist's left leg so that they would form a six pointed star. Yukio landed on the ground a distance away and slammed his left hand onto the ground. The glove on his left hand had the same six pointed star as the one he had made with his throwing knives. The two symbols glowed brightly and the grass below the state alchemists feet grew longer and curled themselves around his leg and were slowly creeping towards his hands and other leg.
