PERSONALITY;[/b]
Winry is a self-professed gearhead. She's in love with automail, machines, and tools. She's studied ever since she was a young girl, and with someone like Pinako to teach her what she knows, she's developed a real knack. It isn't unusual to find her asleep with books on engineering or automail tools scattered around, or even in her bed. Automail is her life, and she wouldn't have it any other way.
Despite her fascination with machines, Winry is very much a girl. She likes wearing dresses when she's not working in the shop, and has a great fondness for cute things. Winry doesn't see anything wrong with a domestic life, and she holds a great deal of respect for women who raise children, cook, and clean. She'd like to learn how to cook as well. She hasn't studied it much at home, but she's learned how to make apple pie, and she practices on improving the recipe whenever she can find the time.
Winry is friendly and outgoing. She gets along well with other people. She's not obnoxious, or loud (sometimes) and she treats adults with respect. Her grandmother raised her well, and her manners are polished. It's not hard to say 'please' or 'thank you.' And if she does something wrong, her apologies are sincere and honest. Most of the time, Winry is a cheerful person. Despite the hardships she endured as a young girl, she manages to move forward with optimism that isn't forced or feigned. Through her ordeals, she's become a very strong young lady.
The pain she felt when she lost her parents made her compassionate. She understood what Ed and Al went through when they lost their mother, and she did her best to comfort them in their time of need. The conviction of her parents, of her grandmother, of her childhood friends, has helped her to learn courage. In times of duress, Winry doesn't panic. Even if she can't feel calm inside, she forces herself to think rationally, to remember what she needs to do, and then she does it. If there's danger, she doesn't think about herself. The welfare of others always comes first.
She's smart, just like her parents. Intelligence seems to run in the family, and Winry was no exception. While she wouldn't profess herself to be a genius, she picks up fast on what she chooses to study, and knows how to focus and discipline herself. Because Winry works so hard, she has every reason to be proud of who she is and what she can do. And yet, she's usually very humble. She doesn't blush when she's complimented, and tends to politely laugh it off when someone expresses their admiration. She enjoys it, though, make no mistake about that.
Of course, she's not without her faults. She's terribly bullheaded, and when she sets her mind to something, she can't be shaken from her course. She's persistent to a fault, but at least she never gives up, even when things get rough. Winry also has a very blunt personality. She isn't afraid to say what's on her mind, especially to point out when someone's doing things they should not.
Winry has quite a temper, and she's quick to express her emotions...particularly when she's angry. While it does her credit to be so open about how she feels, she's just a liiiiittle too quick on the draw with her wrench. Or chair. Or any nearby blunt object that can be used for smacking people on the head. She enjoys teasing the Elrics, particularly Ed when it comes to his height, and they frequently bicker. And while she's concerned about the two brothers, it can sometimes come across as nagging. She gets bossy when they don't do what she thinks they should. She's extremely perceptive about people's feelings and what makes them tick, especially when it comes to the Elrics. And because she usually knows, it frustrates her when she doesn't know and secrets are being kept.

HISTORY;{At least 3 paragraphs}[/b]
Winry was born in the small town of Resembool in the year 1899. She was born first, which is partially the reason why she views the Elrics as her younger brothers. Her parents were both brilliant doctors, and a kinder man and wife were never seen. They went to Ishbal during the civil war when Winry was very young, and never came back. They were murdered by Scar, but as for how it happened, Winry never knew.
Raised by her grandmother, Pinako, Winry took up interest in automail engineering. Because she was taught young, she got a good grip of the basics, and studied hard to learn as much as she could. She frequently fell asleep in the school classroom after devoting long nights to mechanical research. She was there the night that Al, as a suit of armor, came to their house with Ed's maimed body cradled in his arms. Winry stayed with the brothers, seeing to their needs while their injuries, both physical and mental, healed. And when Ed made the decision to gain automail prosthetics, Winry took it upon herself to become his mechanic with her grandmother's assistance. As she grew older and more skilled, Pinako left Winry to her own devices, allowing the girl to work independently
Winry has lent her talent and time to the brothers over and over again. When Ed was hospitalized in Central (due to her own error; she'd forgotten a screw for his arm), she went to him to fix him up. And once she was finished, she begged them to take her with them to Rush Valley, an city with a high number of automail engineers. There she took an apprenticeship with Mr. Garfiel, and became popular very quickly with her clients. She still works there now, but as the brothers have begun to venture through the Gates, she's decided to do a little 'studying abroad' in order to improve her knowledge and techniques. Winry has been given access to a whole new world of technology. She's working hard to learn as much as she can in order to further her skills of automatil engineering. She's made a lot of friends who share similar interests, and tends to hang out with them when she gets the chance, when not playing big sister to the Elric brothers.
LIKES;[/b]
Getting past the sometimes rough edges of Winry's personality, she really does like to help people, whether that be with her automail services or just offering moral support in general. Speaking of automail, Winry loves just about everything that has to do with it - she's a gear head! Winry has the ability to go completely ga ga over some simple parts, screws, the whole shabang. Apart from mechanical aspects, however, she loves to run things, (forcefully if needed) and watches over the people ( and her dog) who she loves.
DISLIKES:;[/b]
Winry doesn't dislike alot of things, but when she does, she has no problem of letting it be known. Winry dislikes the feeling of being left in the dark, (this much is apparent when the brothers don't tell her anything when something is wrong.) She would rather know than not know, so she could atleast find something in her power to help out, no matter what. Winry also doesn't like it when someone damages her automail, and if that were to happen, she could get pretty dangerous.

"I'm sorry, sir, but you have to be still!"
This probably, was the worst part of her job. The blood. The screaming. The painful fidgeting. The endless tight grasps of her arm trying to make her stop. The man she was working on had been - rather brutally - hit by a semi truck that was speeding down the street. The man hadn't been able to react fast enough, and some people who witnessed the accident had brought him to her home, to them, her automail shop. He had lost both of his legs, and she thought it would be better just to give him her automail pieces she had been working on all night. Winry winced at his painful screams, trying to calm him.
"Just...hold on for me, okay? I'm almost done."
She used her soft voice as a mechanism to help soothe the poor man. If he would just be still, she would have been done. With her small wrench in one gloved hand, tightening the screws that held the broken tissue to the automail, she used her other hand to gently brush the sweat from her forehead. Her eyes were set; determined. Just one more leg, and he would finally be able to rest.
"Grandma!" She called for Pinako's help, wherever she was in their small yellow house. She heard Den bark and shuffle from the other room, but didn't hear a reply, much to her dismay. She waited only a few seconds before turning back to work, figuring it would just be better if she did it herself. Grabbing a wet cloth, she ran it over the stub that was once a leg, wiping some of the blood off, signaling the man that she was about to connect the other automail piece. She tossed the now bloody cloth toward the side somewhere, took the other leg that was leaning against work bench and held it steady where she needed to put it on the mans leg.
Winry sighed, and with her free hand, she brushed a strand of blonde hair behind her pierced ear and pushed her bandana up alittle. "On three." She warned, now grabbing the leg piece with both hand. Her blue eyes connected only briefly with the man before turning back to the problem area. "One." She felt muscles tense. She really wasn't sure if it was the man's or hers.
"Two."
Pushing it just alittle closer toward the target, she could hear Den again, barking at the doorbell that rang through her ears and some other commotion that was happening outside. Winry ignored it for the man's sake, wanting to get the job over just as much as he did. "Three," and with that, Winry quickly forced the automail leg onto the damaged area as neatly as possible. The sound of Den's constant barking and the doorbell was drowned out by the mans deafening yell.
------
Just a few moments later, everything was quiet. It was normal for patients to pass out after going through such immense pain, and it made it easier to screw the bolts down securely. "There, all done!" Winry heaved in a sharp breath and sighed louding, running the back of her palm over her face once again. Before leaving the operation room, she placed a folded wet towl on her patient's forehead and cleaned up the bloody mess at the end of the bed.
Once outside, she closed the door silently as to not wake him up and leaned against the side wall. Jobs like those were the hardest, not just the working aspects of it, but the mental toll it took on her. It made her want to know what it was like to have automail, then maybe she could relate to them, and in turn maybe make herself do a better job. The doorbell sounding yet again threw her back into reality, and it was then she remembered just how important her job really was.
